i love the color scheme debbie used for this party. she paid very close attention to detail with everything. the garland and cupcakes are my favorite. great photo’s. and what a little cutie ozzie is! i’m not catholic, so i don’t know a lot about catholic traditions, but it’s always so neat to learn about other people and their faiths. you can tell that this celebration was put together with a lot of love.

Ozzie’s Baptism

Ozzie’s baptism was my first excuse to make party invitations, favors and decorate for a party in honor of Ozzie so I tried a few new things. I figure it was good practice for his 1st birthday party coming up at the end of this month.
Traditionally a candle is decorated with the child’s name and baptism date for the mass and is relighted every year on the anniversary of his baptism. Below is the candle, the invitation and his party favors. I decided to make magnets with the faith theme for the favors so I used dove and cross stickers.

I really wanted to make Martha Stewart’s tissue paper pom poms and a cross garland inspired by Hostess with the Mostess bunny garland. Honestly I could have spent more time fluffing my pom poms but I had a lot to get done and was running out of time. I think the cross garland is one of my favorites from the party.

For the cross cupcakes I bought ready to use fondant from Wilton. Oscar helped to roll it out, it was a huge chunk of fondant and I needed his muscle. We used a mini-cross cookie cutter and colored the frosting baby blue. They kind of looked like little gravestones but I still liked how they turned out.

My Mom just came back from a vacation in the Philippines and she brought Ozzie a traditional Filipino shirt called a Barong Tagalog. Ozzie looked too cute in his. Here he is with his cousin Kailani and smiling at his cousin Carissa {the official picture taker} over my shoulder.

This beautiful BUTTERFLY CHRISTENING CELEBRATION was submitted by Michelle Alejandro. This would be such a pretty spring themed birthday party as well. I love all the gorgeous fresh flowers! Michelle did an amazing job.

Here is what Michelle had to say about the celebration– “I had been planning Isabella’s christening party almost from the moment I got pregnant. I was so excited to throw this very first party we would have for our little girl so I wanted something really memorable and pretty.

I always think of little Isabella as my miracle. I called her a little butterfly so I knew I wanted to incorporate butterflies into the theme. Since I decorated her nursery in a palette of pink and purple I opted for a classic color scheme of blush pink, purple, and pewter. I thought the colors looked great together and were both feminine and classic at the same time.

THEME:
I opted for a nice floral butterfly garden theme since the event would be in the afternoon. I thought this brought together all the elements I loved perfectly.

INVITES:
Since invitations truly set the mood for events, I wanted our invitation to say something about what we wanted the entire party to feel like. We opted for beautiful Butterfly Christening Celebration I opted for a beautiful gray, pewter invitation with Isabella’s photograph on it. I really wanted everything to be special so we even had each envelope done in handwritten calligraphy.

THE STYLING:
There was truly a certain look I was going for and to achieve it I worked with Bambi Hernandez of Alice’s Wonderland. She is an amazing event and production stylist and I knew she could put together Isabella’s perfect butterfly garden. I had bought these beautiful handmade purple, pink, and white butterflies I gave her to use throughout the styling to tie everything together. She was amazingly meticulous with the details. She took my mood board and brought it life, putting everything together so beautifully.
Our event was at the Continental Restaurant which had large windows allowing the sunlight to stream in. We used purple and pink tablecloths on the smaller square tables. Each table had a low flat arrangement of fresh flowers with a mason jar at the center containing sand and a butterfly. Additional butterflies also accented the centerpieces which Bambi and her team handmade on the day of the event.
The dessert table had a tabletop mini trellis with suspended butterflies and flowers in floating glass balls. This was further accented with ISABELLA’s name above the sweets and photos of her accenting the whole table.
The main decorating element though was a handcrafted letter “I” installation that greeted guests as the entered the venue on a large round marble table. It was made with silk flowers and was accented by floral arrangements and candles. On this same table were “Wish Cards” for Isabella that guests filled up and hung on her tree.

SWEETS:
The desserts were a large part of the event. Not only were there delicious but they made the dessert buffet look stunning. The sweets table were filled with floral cupcakes by Swell Sweets, personalized cookie pops, and cake pops from Cuppy Puppy Bakehouse, and a beautiful ruffle cake by Swell Sweets. It also had personalized purple M&M’s my mom had hand-carried from Las Vegas home to the Philippines with Isabella’s name on them.

GIVEAWAYS:
We wanted to give everyone something special to remember the day so we had handmade crocheted baby booties made in white and pink and I personally filled them with Isabella’s personalized M&M’s for the guests. For her godparents we prepared special gifts – purple Pashmina scarfs for the ladies and homemade chocolate chip cookies for the gentlemen.”

Here’s what Camila said about planning the party- “This was my son Lorenzo’s baptism / 1st birthday party. I am Brazilian, my husband American and my son was born in the US. My family is in Brazil so I wanted Lorenzo’s first birthday and baptism to be there. I have decided on this theme because of the multicutural background my son has – me as an Italian decent and my husband being Cuban/Colombian/American just add up for this awesome international ancestry my son has :) I contacted Fabiana Moura Projetos Personalizados with my theme already in mind. After many emails we decided on a color palette and all the details from the kids to the cake tables. The kids table was done by me. I printed the placemats on the internet and made all the details for the kids using washi tape, fun balloon themed tags that I custom ordered from Esty and fun striped straws. I also made the kids goodie bags with paper bags covered with world themed craft paper. It was a very fun project and I loved the way it came out. Inside each bag we gave the kids a kit with a little fun note pad, crayon holder, crayons and fun balloon stickers. For The cake table I brought some vintage items from the US and also used some vintage items from my family. Fabiana came up with the amazing cake table decor. Each adult table had a balloon, custom made by Fabiana and it was very very cute! The party was a hit and each and every detail was to die for! I really appreciate Fabiana’s vision and her Ability to make my dream come true with exchange of emails :). I couldn’t ask for anything better or more beautiful!”

Sarah said this about planning this event-“Gorgeous couple Shantel & Brad approached me to create a white and silver dessert table for their wedding, and I had a ball styling and creating my first wedding table. It was held at the Merewether Surfhouse with the stunning Merewether beach as the backdrop to the wedding.

I always seem to forget how long it takes to meticulously set up dessert buffets of this size, but it is so rewarding when you see the excitement on the guests faces when they first walk in and the love letters from the bride and groom afterwards!
Brad & Shantel gave me complete free reign on the entire table except for the colour palette. White and silver was their choice and is such a fresh clean palette to work with, I love the beautiful simplicity of these colours together. Some of my favourite items for this wedding table include the scalloped white lanterns I painstakingly made the night before (took a new direction at the final hour!!), the tulle pom pom cupcake toppers from Pom Pom Princess, the pretty frills at the front of the table thanks to Dandy & Darling, the BLING cake by Get Frosted and the beautiful jewels to accent the table by Exquisite Jewels For Hire.

It was such a joy to create this table for a truly beautiful couple, Shantel was one of the most stunning brides I have ever seen (and Brad was ever so handsome too!!)… I am so excited, as they are expecting a baby, so guess who is going to style the baby shower – YAH!!”

 Jen said this about planning this event-“My sweet daughter turned 8 in March. Eight is an important age in our church as it is the age children can choose to be baptized. Of course, as parents we wanted to support our daughter in this decision & celebrate her day. I hope you will enjoy the photographs, beautifully captured by Karina Rigtrup of A Fresh Take Photography.

We had been preparing her for this day for a long time. She picked out a special white dress to wear. Professional photographs were taken. We talked about the religious ceremony and responsibilities. A guest list of family and close friends was created.

What I wasn’t expecting was the lack of religious themed invitations & coordinating printable packages available online and in stores. I was so grateful and thrilled when Maureen of Anders Ruff Custom Designs agreed to take on the challenge of creating fresh designs for for me from scratch. I gave her very little direction, but asked that it be elegant, incorporate beautiful shades of gold, mint, pink & blush with a trellis pattern, stripes and some gorgeous frames & scroll work. I absolutely adore what she designed and think you will too!

What is fabulous about Anders Ruff’s designs is that they are so versatile. The invitation and coordinating package can easily be adapted for any religious event or celebration and even for other events & socials. (You can see the boy baptism invitation here in shades of blue, gray & pale yellow.)

As with many important life events, I knew the baptism day would be hectic getting a house full of people ready in ‘Sunday best’ and to the church on time. In my planning, I was hoping to minimize the chaos of the day by working ahead on my setup, allowing for a peaceful morning & a memorable day for my daughter and guests. With the help of Anders Ruff’s stunning design work and by enlisting some of the most brilliant dessert artists, I was able to put together a beautiful dessert table & dining table for our social with just a few days of prep work.

This gorgeous chocolate mint cake was created by the talented Christina Goff of 4 Kids Cakes. Christina’s cakes are beautiful and delicious. Double threat! I tell all of my guests to save their diet ‘cheat days’ for Christina’s cakes! I love the delicate flowers (all edible!) and the gold shimmer detailing!

We loved the breathtaking cookies designed by Jen of Sugary Sweet Cupcakes & Treats . The delicate floral details, monogram & trellis patterns coordinated beautifully with the printable elements and color palette.

Lovely and delicately embellished cake pops (Maskipops by Adri) and delicious rose macarons (Felt & Flour) were paired with stunning chocolate fondant Oreos from Earth & Sugar making a beautiful display.

Chocolate covered pretzels are always a popular dessert table choice, and their shelflife is long, allowing them to stay fresh for weeks after an event. We love the edible pearl accents and gold sparkles Berry Delish added for an extra glamorous look.

I adore the intricate tiered bird cage stands from Via Blossom, as well as the pretty gold, white & pink polka dotted dessert cups that made reloading the dessert stand so easy. Don’t those gold dusted meringues from The Sweet Tooth Bar look amazing?

And while it was so hard to eat something so beautiful, Maria’s (Love & Sugar Kisess)  chocolate fondant covered Oreos were a hit!

I wanted to keep the place settings delicate to match the simple beauty of a sacred day. We used SmashCake Studio ’s beautiful paper plates layered on paper doilies and gold chargers and accented each with a pretty gold tipped cookie from The Sweet Tooth Bar.

I am often asked by friends and clients what the ‘essential elements’ are for a basic printable package, should they want to have one made from scratch. Here is the list I requested from Maureen and some photos of how I incorporated these items. (**Please note: This is a very basic list of essentials, but Anders Ruff can create just about any printable custom item you can imagine!)

• 1- Invitation & return address label (+ **enclosure card depending on event)

I feel having a gorgeous invitation suite is the first essential detail of every successful event. Anders Ruff always does a beautiful job of pairing impeccable design work with a stylish color palette suited to your specifications, classic patterns & trendy design elements.

• 2- Banner/Bunting

Banners & bunting come in a fun variety of shapes & sizes. I love using them to recognize the guest of honor by incorporating his or her name or highlighting the occasion with something like “Congrats” or “Happy Birthday”. It is a simple & inexpensive piece of party decor with big impact. To recreate our look, layer the printable scallop banner on top of beautiful pink lace paper plates from SmashCake Studio and gold lace doilies from Party City.

• 3- Beverage wraps

I adore beverage wraps! They can be added to square french plastic bottles like those seen here from SmashCake Studio, to glass mason jars, milk bottles, cans & bottles of soda pop or water and even paper cups. Usually 5-6 print per page, making them an affordable way to dress up your beverages & add some coordinating details to your event. Plus, I love that you can personalize them with the name of your guest, special details pertaining to the event and even fun elements from your event theme. Easily attach them with tape, glue dots, a glue gun or your favorite double sided adhesive.

• 4- Cupcake topper/circle logo label (standard shape is usually a circle design inside a square, but can also be unique shapes that can be handcut or punched with a shaped punch)

I love using these labels for so many things! They are often referred to as “cupcake toppers” because they are popularly used attached to sucker sticks or toothpicks to dress up cupcakes and other desserts. Because they are so versatile, I use them for multiple things. For this event, I added them to cups, take home treat bags and as embellishments on decor. Easily attach them with tape, glue, glue dots or double sided adhesive. Approximately a dozen fit per page, maximizing your printing cost! {P.S.The darling cups pictured are from SmashCake Studio. The beautiful custom eco-friendly forks are from Sucre Shop. Finally, the lovely french lace doily strip used to embellish the treat bags can be found via Little Ink.}

• 5- Favor tag(s)

Perfect for dressing up favors and take-home treats!

• 6- Straw/dessert stick part flags

O.K. party flags might not be “essential”, but they are almost always on my printable “wish list” because they are such a fun detail! Add them to straws, sucker sticks, cake pop sticks, flower stems, candy, etc… with a little personal note or event detail. Our party flags came in 2 versions. One had a congratulatory sentiment and the other had a monogram K to honor our guest of honor.

• **Optional: Backdrop Centerpiece sign

I love a beautiful sign welcoming friends to my events. It can serve as a focal point for a dessert table or a greeting on a front door. Either way, the fun shape of this sign was just what we needed to tie our event together. TIP: Print poster size (20x 30″) at Costco for less than $10!”

This christening party is so cute! I love the paper boat theme. It’s such a unique but fun take on a traditional nautical theme. There are so many darling ideas in this party that would be great for a nautical birthday party, boat party, or a boat themed christening or baby blessing celebration.

This is what Alina said about planning the party- “I wanted something a little different from the standard “Nautical” theme for my Son’s christening. Something Stylish and simple but with a vintage twist… for an intimate family Christening held at home. So I went for a “paper boat” theme, using old book pages for the boats in the bonboniere and on the table, and actually sending out pop open origami paper boats as the invitations, complete with little personalised flags and anchor charms on cotton twine. The use of the different shades of aqua made it the perfect colours for the February date we chose and also for a baby boy. I suspended cut out white clouds and aqua pompoms from the ceiling above the table to look like a bright sky over the sea. Other little touches that helped complete the theme…  using life savers on cupcakes and mixed in with the aqua almonds in the bonbonierie, blue jelly with white “sea foam” sprinkled on top,  thick cotton twine tied in knots around vases, curtains etc, sand poured in jars creating candle holders, and even a little message in a bottle! I went for simple small bunches of white flowers as it was for a little boy.”
